You are sitting on your computer, not doing anything of interest, when you receive an email notification. When you go to your inbox, you find 4 nearly identical messages from the same address, and you start to grin. You DID get all 4 copies of the sburb beta you signed up for, so now all you have to hope for is that your friends will actually want to play it with you. So, deciding that there is nothing better to do, you invite them all to a memo.
Deciding that the memo could have been a much larger disaster, you get up from your computer for a moment to check that your box of voodoo-related items is as far back under the bed as possible. Knowing what your sister would do if she found it, you give it one more shove to ensure its placement in the corner before grabbing a can of energy drink and sitting back down in front of your computer to contact IA about what info he got from Dev.
While that conversation was weird, you can’t deny that you believe what IA said. You don’t know why you believe it, but something in your head is just telling you that you have to if you want to survive. And while this freaks you out quite a lot, you try to keep calm as you take a voodoo book with a fake cover reading, “The history of Heavy Metal,” and plop down on your bed with it. After all, it’s only 11 o’clock where you are, and that’s far too early to go to sleep.

IA: Join the memo
You are sitting in your room. The main reason is because you have nothing better to do. You have been exhausting your mental and physical energy trying to learn how to fight using a staff, but it has not gone well. Your internet is far to slow for images, let alone instructional videos, so you are stuck reading people's long explanations with no visual reference point. At this point, you just want to go to sleep, but you know that would only give you more to do and think about. It is times like this when you wish you had never woken up on that garish moon.
You expect that someone will need some help with something soon enough, so you decide to wait at your computer. In the meantime, you run one of your many strange programs. This one is supposed to play music, but it does not work as well as you want it to. Suddenly, your Pesterchum window moves to the front of the screen. It seems you were right. Someone wants to talk to you.
Of course, CL wants more info as usual. You are not going to get out of this, which means you will probably end up sounding like a liar. Luckily, your guardian, Dev, has finally fixed up the sendificator. Hopefully, Eiko will give you her GPS coordinates.
That went well. You do hope that she goes to sleep soon. Her constant state of tiredness could get her killed if she is not careful. Still, you do expect that things will go well tomorrow. In the meantime, you have some proof to get and send. It will take more than a single night, but hopefully you can get it done with two or three.
IA: Begin the game
Finally the game is starting. This is the beginning of your grand adventure. It is going to be so fun. CL show contact you any moment. You downloaded the server program as soon as you got the email, although it took nearly 10 hours to complete the download. You are so glad that the game has its own network. Today, you might finally see your friend for the first time.
On schedule, you see the Pesterchum window flash. It is time to begin.
Your connection suddenly cuts out as CL does some kind of voodoo magic. You hypothesize that the internet drop is a result of the voodoo, which would mean that you can reconnect now. You do that.
After that fun adventure, you feel quite prepared to take on this game as a client. You quickly grab CL's box and minifridge up to her temporary room. Hopefully she will stay inside and wait for her energy drink crash to wear off. Just in case, you put a lock on the door, copied from her garage door opener. It should not be hard for her to figure out that the code is the same as the one on her garage, but she would not be able to do that until she is well rested enough to think clearly. If nothing else, she will contact you if she cannot figure it out. You also take the time to carve "I'm sorry" under you message to Eiko's Sis. You don't want to be mean. You grab some food and put it in the small room you built. There is not enough room for a bed, so you put a bunch of pillows on the floor. Finally, you get up from your computer and get to work on a new staff. You are going to need it soon.

[20:37:28] CIA RIGHT NOW coveted MEHNAH.
[20:37:40] CIA: Hello
[20:37:45] CURRENT candidLiar [CCL] RIGHT NOW answered the memo.
[20:37:45] CCL: hey guys
[20:37:49] CCL: so
[20:37:59] CCL: theres this game that i got 4 betas for
[20:38:02] CURRENT chaoticTrickster [CCT] RIGHT NOW answered the memo.
[20:38:02] CCT: and you couldn't think of a better name?
[20:38:17] CCL: and i was wondering if you guys would like to play
[20:38:21] CURRENT primordialSasquatch [CPS] RIGHT NOW answered the memo.
[20:38:21] CPS: a game?
[20:38:25] CCL: yeah
[20:38:35] CCL: its an online game thing i guess
[20:38:38] CCL: its called sburb
[20:38:44] CIA: I have heard of it.
[20:38:45] CCT: is the game titled mehnah?
[20:38:58] CCL: shut up ct
[20:38:58] CIA: I would like to play.
[20:39:02] CCT: well then why not name the memo sburb?
[20:39:05] CCL: woah really
[20:39:12] CPS: what's it about?
[20:39:17] CCL: ia youre not usually the type for games
[20:39:20] CCT: obviously not logic
[20:39:26] CCL: ill send a tutorial
[20:39:27] CCT: or CL would never be able to play
[20:39:39] -- CURRENT candidLiar [CCL] sends the tutorial --
[20:39:42] CCL: excuse you
[20:39:47] CCL: who is the strategist here
[20:39:55] CCT: -.-
[20:40:34] CCT: so this is like the one block game?
[20:40:37] CCT: kinda.
[20:40:55] CCT: where we build shit out of other random shit
[20:41:01] CCL: yeah
[20:41:06] CCL: it looks kinda fun
[20:41:08] CCT: and the world spawns mnonsters
[20:41:12] CCL: and not too complicated
[20:41:14] CCT: and they try to eat our faces
[20:41:20] CIA: It is going to be a really cool game.
[20:41:23] CCL: i mean what good game doesnt have monsters
[20:41:28] CPS: i'm willing if everyone else is
[20:41:30] CCL: our characters will be fine
[20:41:39] CCT: wasn't tetris really popular once?
[20:41:48] CCL: yeah
[20:42:17] CCT: and whoever wrote the tutorial seems to think our characters won't be ok.
[20:42:21] CCT: or at least,
[20:42:25] CCT: we might not be
[20:42:29] CCT: if we play...
[20:42:34] CCL: probably just a promo thing
[20:42:47] CIA: Um...
[20:43:19] CCL: um
[20:43:22] CCT: I don't know how much I would trust this memo.
[20:43:36] CCT: the writer seems to be missing a few dozen marbles
[20:43:40] CPS: where did you find this?
[20:43:57] CCL: i just searched sburb and it came up on some forum thing
[20:44:10] CCT: how obscure?
[20:44:23] CCL: id never heard of it
[20:44:28] CCL: so pretty obscure
[20:44:31] CCT: like, fringes of space obscure?
[20:44:35] CCT: oh
[20:44:40] CCT: ...
[20:44:50] CCT: really sketchy
[20:44:54] CCL: yeah
[20:44:56] CIA: It seems relatively accurate to me.
[20:45:03] CCT: 0.o
[20:45:04] CCL: how would you know ia
[20:45:21] CIA: Did you even read the info page?
[20:45:32] CIA: Dev is working on it.
[20:45:40] CCL: oh holy shit
[20:45:43] CCL: i didnt
[20:45:52] CCL: or at least i didnt register it was dev
[20:45:58] CCT: I feel like I am missing something
[20:46:05] CPS: who?
[20:46:12] CCL: ias gaurdian
[20:46:15] CCT: well at least I'm not alonw
[20:46:17] CCT: alone*
[20:46:38] CCT: isn't his gaurdian also kinda nuts?
[20:46:47] CIA: He is not.
[20:47:05] CCL: one sec guys
[20:47:24] CCL: i hear my sis coming to check on me and i need to put my shit in the box under my bed
[20:47:31] CCT: seems kinda paranoid to me.
[20:47:49] CCT: and you should really shower CL.
[20:47:59] CCL: hey
[20:48:00] CCT: cleanliness is next to godlyness.
[20:48:07] CCL: i showered this morning
[20:48:13] CCT: and I don't even want to know the state of your room.
[20:48:19] CCT: wow
[20:48:22] CPS: ah good job!
[20:48:32] CCT: I'm impressed
[20:50:52] CPS: so if IA's guardian made it, then it should be a good game right?
[20:51:06] CCL: dev is not a programmer
[20:51:26] CPS: oh, sorry my mistake
[20:51:29] CCT: Then how did he make it?
[20:51:32] CCL: so i have no idea how he would have even started
[20:51:33] CCT: magic?
[20:52:09] CCT: anyone?
[20:52:11] CCL: ia
[20:52:15] CCL: how did dev make it
[20:52:28] CIA: It is a long story.
[20:52:34] CCT: finally
[20:52:44] CCL: do tell
[20:52:49] CCT: and I though we would need to banish the internet gremlins to get you back
[20:53:04] CIA: Well...
[20:54:06] CIA: We were trying to switch ocean currents to avoid current that would take us to land.
[20:54:46] CCT: make that very paranoid
[20:55:06] CIA: And we saw this temple to some kind of cartoon frog.
[20:55:21] CIA: We took the temple onto the boat.
[20:55:33] CIA: Dev studied it for a while.
[20:56:00] CIA: He could not figure out the glyphs...so he sent a bunch of pictures to someone.
[20:56:12] CIA: It took out our internet for nearly three days.
[20:56:28] CCL: thats where you were
[20:56:37] CPS: that's....weird
[20:56:44] CCL: that delayed our last match a lot
[20:57:02] CIA: Somehow or other...him and whoever he was talking to figured out that it was computer code.
[20:57:24] CCT: so we are playing a game found on a frog?
[20:57:24] CIA: Then...he went ahead and translated it.
[20:57:47] CCT: I think we wandered back into crazy ville
[20:57:48] CCL: thats really strange
[20:57:58] CCL: but may as well use these copies i guess
[20:58:08] CCL: theyre pretty hard to get
[20:58:24] CIA: It is going to be an awesome game.
[20:59:05] CCL: ia
[20:59:16] CCL: does this mean that youve got inside knowledge
[20:59:24] CCL: like how to get the best loot and shit
[20:59:32] CPS: i think more info'd be useful...
[20:59:45] CIA: Is "I would rather not talk about it." a valid answer?
[20:59:54] CCL: Nope
[21:00:15] CCL: with you noobs well need all the help we can get
[21:00:48] CPS: as long as it's just a game, then alright
[21:01:43] CCT: I doubt he would know much about the game, given how paranoid his gaurdian is.
[21:01:54] CCL: he has to know something
[21:02:16] CCT: not everyone is as obsessive as you CL.
[21:02:27] CCL: yes
[21:02:35] CCL: but i am as obsessive as me
[21:03:13] CIA: Fair enough.
[21:03:21] CIA: I will tell.
[21:03:29] CCT: so you pester dev
[21:03:31] CCL: and i am going to win this game
[21:03:44] CCT: whatever
[21:04:03] CPS: we'll have a fun time together i'm sure
[21:04:23] CCT: at least it's something
[21:04:25] CCT: to do
[21:04:45] CCL: is everyone good with starting tomorrow
[21:05:04] CIA: Yeah!
[21:05:14] CPS: that'd be fine bu me
[21:05:14] CCL: ia
[21:05:30] CIA: Yes?
[21:05:34] CCL: lets talk strategy for a minute and then hear your info
[21:05:47] CCL: so we each need a server player and a client player
[21:06:16] CCL: ia can be my server player
[21:06:22] CCL: ia
[21:06:30] CCL: who do you want to be your server player
[21:06:59] CIA: Um... I am fine with anyone.
[21:07:12] CCT: I can do it.
[21:07:25] CCT: as long as it doesn
[21:07:35] CCT: need him to have a steady internet connection
[21:08:10] CIA: The game does not really on the user's internet. It has its own system.
[21:08:24] CIA: At least...it does once you enter.
[21:08:35] CCL: enter
[21:08:47] CCL: that can wait a sec
[21:09:00] CCL: then that means that ps can be the server for ct
[21:09:05] CCL: and ill be the server for him
[21:09:21] CCT: so how do we enter?
[21:09:22] CPS: that's fine by me
[21:09:26] CPS: but
[21:09:30] CPS: if it's off the internet, how do multiple people play together?
[21:09:45] CCT: magic, *wiggles fingers*
[21:09:50] CCL: you connect to the same game server
[21:09:58] CCL: or session
[21:10:04] CCL: in the sense of this game
[21:10:14] CIA: It is a complicated...possibly magical...system of links.
[21:10:33] CCT: like I said, magic
[21:10:41] CPS: oh, ok
[21:11:19] CCT: how much more do we need to discuss?
[21:11:29] CCT: cause it's like 5 here.
[21:11:44] CCT: and I really need a shower
[21:11:53] CCT: preferably before the sun comes up.
[21:12:25] CCL: i should probably go to bed
[21:12:27] CCL: but who cares
[21:12:36] CCL: we should hear ias insider info
[21:12:55] CCT: who here really cares about the insider infor other than you?
[21:13:15] CPS: ah! i lost track of time, it's 4 over here now....
[21:13:50] CCT: so?
[21:14:04] CCL: fine
[21:14:08] CCL: ill talk to him
[21:14:25] CCL: i guess well be playing later today for you guys
[21:14:29] CCL: so ttyl
[21:14:34] CCT: see ya
[21:14:36] CCL went away from the memo.
[21:14:39] CIA: See you tomorrow!
[21:14:50] CPS: goodnight!
[21:15:05] CPS went away from the memo.
[21:15:20] CCT went away from the memo.
[21:16:20] CIA went away from the memo.
Of course, CL wants more info as usual. You are not going to get out of this, which means you will probably end up sounding like a liar. Luckily, your guardian, Dev, has finally fixed up the sendificator. Hopefully, Eiko will give you her GPS coordinates.

[21:14:43] -- candidLiar [CL] began pestering infinityAlternator [IA] at 21:14 --
[21:14:46] CL: ugh
[21:14:55] CL: why is ct such a bitch sometimes
[21:15:01] CL: anyways
[21:15:06] CL: what info do you have
[21:15:14] CL: you have to have something
[21:15:53] IA: On a scale from 1 to 10...how much are you ready to believe.
[21:15:55] IA: ?
[21:16:30] CL: uh
[21:16:39] CL: like wacky magic believe
[21:16:45] CL: or like something with proof believe
[21:18:56] IA: Pretty much wacky magic. I could get some proof if you wanted but...since it will take me a while...you could always believe that I fabricated the evidence.
[21:19:12] CL: well
[21:19:24] CL: youve never lied to me in the past
[21:19:31] CL: so ill believe you i guess
[21:19:41] CL: unless you start to sound high off your ass
[21:20:01] IA: I am going to pretend I understand what that means.
[21:20:20] CL: fair enough
[21:20:53] IA: OK...you know that Dev is a bit on the weird side.
[21:21:35] CL: yeah
[21:22:07] IA: Apparently...my Grandfather was a good friend of his. Most of the weirdness seems to have originated there.
[21:22:51] IA: I think my Grandfather was aware of Prospit.
[21:22:58] CL: prospit
[21:23:06] IA: Right.
[21:23:37] IA: Prospit is a planet which orbits a larger planet called Skaia.
[21:24:07] IA: It has a single moon which is attached to it by a large chain (and presumably also gravity).
[21:24:29] CL: that is super weird
[21:25:11] IA: Beyond that is an asteroid belt called "The Furthest Ring"
[21:25:34] IA: Followed by a second planet (called Derse) which also orbits Skaia.
[21:25:38] CL: this sounds mostly like astronomy
[21:25:46] IA: It has a moon similar to Prospit.
[21:26:11] IA: Sorry...just trying to set everything up.
[21:27:02] CL: okay
[21:27:07] IA: Basically...as far as I can tell...everyone who plays Sburb ends up either on Prospit or Derse's Moon.
[21:28:03] CL: so theyre constructs of the game
[21:28:17] IA: In the game...Prospit is a supporter of the players and Derse is the enemy of the players.
[21:28:54] CL: wait
[21:29:02] CL: does that mean the guys on derse are evil
[21:29:11] CL: i thought this was co-op
[21:29:57] IA: Prospit is a beautiful place. Everything is gold and light reaches every corner. Derse is the opposite; the walls are a dark indigo and the streets are in perpetual shadow.
[21:30:44] IA: All the players are on the same team...but some are on Derse and some are on Prospit.
[21:30:45] CL: doesnt sound too pleasant
[21:30:51] CL: ct would love it
[21:31:07] IA: I think you will come to enjoy it in time.
[21:31:51] CL: none of this sounds too wacky and magical
[21:32:01] IA: That is coming next.
[21:32:30] IA: Every night...when I go to sleep...I wake up on Prospit.
[21:33:42] IA: CL?
[21:34:00] IA: Eiko?
[21:34:19] IA: I was kind of expecting some disbelief or something.
[21:34:36] CL: uh
[21:34:46] CL: that is quite something
[21:34:50] CL: what does that mean
[21:35:00] CL: that the game is real
[21:35:13] IA: I think so.
[21:35:20] CL: this is kinda farfetched
[21:35:34] CL: but i feel like i should believe you
[21:35:44] IA: Thanks.
[21:35:48] CL: but i guess ill find out later today
[21:36:00] CL: that means the monsters are real
[21:36:06] CL: and everything in the tutorial
[21:36:08] CL: holy shit
[21:36:13] IA: Yeah...
[21:36:23] IA: About that.
[21:36:37] IA: Our session should go a lot better.
[21:36:48] CL: it should
[21:36:59] IA: For one...we have the tutorial to read.
[21:37:00] CL: why
[21:37:04] CL: thats true
[21:37:33] IA: Also...you can use your glaive pretty well already.
[21:38:14] CL: yeah
[21:38:22] CL: but you cant fight
[21:38:23] CL: at all
[21:39:12] IA: I have more of a strategist role.
[21:39:44] IA: Plus...I have some great tricks planned out.
[21:39:50] CL: but there will still be monsters
[21:40:37] IA: Does the tutorial say anything about the enemies being prototyped with the same object as the sprites?
[21:41:25] CL: i think so
[21:42:39] IA: I heard about that from Dev. You see...the bodies we have while dreaming on the moons are seperate from our regular bodies.
[21:43:14] IA: I am pretty sure that if I prototype my dream-body...I will be able to imprint some part of my consiousness on the enemies.
[21:43:29] CL: that would be pretty creepy
[21:44:10] IA: Maybe for you...but I have to use some tricks if I want to survive the early portions of the game.
[21:44:36] CL: wait
[21:44:42] CL: do these sprites age
[21:44:44] CL: can they die
[21:45:33] IA: I am sure they can die...but they are said to be extremely resilient creatures. I am not sure about the aging.
[21:46:10] IA: No one actually prototypes something that can age much and then leaves it for long enough.
[21:46:38] CL: hm
[21:49:50] IA: I have found a bunch of useful information and wrote it in a notebook. I scanned it into my computer...so I could try sending it to you...but that might take a few weeks to get through...
[21:50:22] CL: thats okay
[21:50:36] CL: if the game is real we might actually be able to share notes
[21:50:40] CL: in person
[21:50:48] CL: and i can teach you how to not die
[21:50:57] IA: Would you be able to get me your GPS coordinates?
[21:51:07] CL: why
[21:51:20] IA: Do you remember the sendificator?
[21:51:24] CL: yeah
[21:51:30] CL: what are you going to try to do
[21:51:55] IA: Dev fixed it pretty recently. It turns out it was just out of uranium.
[21:52:12] CL: just out of uranium
[21:52:20] CL: thats totally a normal thing to say
[21:52:27] IA: I could just sendificate the files to you on a flash drive.
[21:52:42] CL: theres not much point
[21:52:47] CL: it wont be long until we play
[21:53:16] IA: I will have to do something like that for the proof too.
[21:53:30] CL: alright
[21:53:40] -- candidLiar [CL] sends the gps coordinates of her house --
[21:54:26] CL: well
[21:54:32] IA: Great. I will send you the proof from Prospit tonight.
[21:54:34] CL: my sis is yelling at me to get some sleep
[21:54:43] IA: I see.
[21:54:44] CL: so ill ttyl
[21:54:56] IA: See you tomorrow!
[21:54:59] CL: not that im gonna sleep
[21:55:07] IA: You really should.
[21:55:11] CL: but she notices the light of my computer
[21:55:15] CL: i have research to do
[21:55:23] CL: bye
[21:55:27] IA: The game will be starting soon. You need to be well rested.
[21:55:36] IA: Please?

[21:55:45] -- candidLiar [CL] began pestering infinityAlternator [IA] at 21:55 --
[21:55:45] CL: maybe
[21:55:47] -- candidLiar [CL] ceased pestering infinityAlternator [IA] at 21:55 --
That went well.

[20:58:35] -- candidLiar [CL] began pestering infinityAlternator [IA] at 20:58 --
[20:58:36] CL: hey
[20:58:40] CL: are you ready
[20:58:58] IA: I am fully prepared.
[20:59:07] CL: cool
[20:59:14] CL: isnt it like 8 there
[20:59:26] IA: Yes...
[20:59:36] CL: okay
[20:59:39] CL: anyways
[20:59:45] CL: we might want to hurry
[20:59:56] CL: theres a really bad storm about to hit
[20:59:57] IA: Why?
[21:00:01] IA: Oh
[21:00:04] IA: I see.
[21:00:15] CL: so i dont know if my internet will stay up
[21:00:39] IA: Hopefully we will get into the game before that happens then.
[21:01:12] CL: i sent you an email with the game
[21:01:25] CL: i dont know if you got it
[21:01:27] IA: I have already downloaded it.
[21:01:32] CL: awesome
[21:01:35] CL: im set too
[21:01:42] CL: so i guess we should connect
[21:03:57] IA: OK. Start the program and tell me when the loading screen finishes.
[21:04:05] CL: okay
[21:04:13] CL: its stuck at 60%
[21:04:17] CL: oh wait
[21:04:21] CL: it finished
[21:04:34] IA: OK. I am running the server application.
[21:05:00] IA: Done. It looks like I have a connection.
[21:05:06] CL: awesome
[21:05:13] CL: can you see me
[21:05:24] CL: im waving at nothing in particular
[21:05:34] IA: Yes. I can see you.
[21:05:47] CL: cool
[21:05:54] CL: so what do we need to do
[21:06:03] CL: i may have only skimmed that tutorial
[21:06:12] IA: We have a set of large objects we need to set up.
[21:06:20] IA: Do you have any large open spaces?
[21:06:21] CL: okay
[21:06:24] CL: um
[21:06:30] CL: the terrace is down the hall
[21:06:39] CL: and the dojo downstairs
[21:07:09] CL: and theres a little space along my wall
[21:07:23] CL: if you move my shelf
[21:07:28] IA: We should probably put the objects together if we can...
[21:07:47] IA: Also...I would prefer not to move anything until I get the hang of the interface.
[21:07:53] CL: okay
[21:08:01] CL: the dojo is probably best then
[21:08:04] CL: if you can see that
[21:08:10] CL: since i live above it
[21:08:42] IA: I see it. Let us start with the most important equipment. I am deploying the Alchemiter in your dojo.
[21:08:52] CL: cool
[21:11:09] IA: Can you go down and look at it?
[21:11:19] CL: Sure
[21:11:31] CL: let me grab my tablet
[21:11:47] CL: since tmy computer is a desktop
[21:12:02] CL: here i go
[21:12:10] CL: ill contact you when I get down there
[21:12:19] IA: OK
[21:12:50] CL: i just ran into my sis
[21:13:01] CL: im hiding at next to my room
[21:13:09] IA: I see.
[21:13:18] IA: I will try to set up a distraction.
[21:13:47] -- infinityAlternator [IA] starts cutting random sections out of a wall. --
[21:13:54] CL: she doesnt like me going into the dojo when theres bad weather
[21:13:57] CL: holy shit
[21:14:03] CL: that got her attention
[21:14:07] IA: Good.
[21:14:25] IA: I will try to lead her away. Continue to the dojo.
[21:14:47] CL: okay
[21:14:51] CL: im in the dojo
[21:14:58] -- infinityAlternator [IA] continues cutting out random sections, being slightly more careful about important pipes and wires. --
[21:15:04] IA: Got it.
[21:15:16] CL: holy shit these things are huge
[21:15:23] CL: what do i do now
[21:15:29] IA: I am placing the Totem Lathe. Is there anywhere you want me to put it?
[21:15:40] CL: dont care
[21:15:53] CL: make sure you leave some of the sparring floor
[21:15:59] CL: its good for practicing
[21:16:28] IA: OK. I am placing it against the wall next to the door. That should leave enough space for the Cruxtruder as well.
[21:16:59] IA: Do you have any large objects I could possibly throw at the Cruxtruder?
[21:18:26] IA: CL?
[21:18:37] IA: Did your internet start going out already?
[21:18:59] IA: I see. I will set up the cruxtruder then.
[21:23:26] CL: hey
[21:23:33] CL: my power was off for a few
[21:23:38] -- infinityAlternator [IA] places the Cruxtruder between the Totem Lathe and the wall. --
[21:24:11] IA: This is all the basic stuff.
[21:24:19] CL: okay
[21:24:27] CL: you said you needed something big
[21:24:30] CL: uh
[21:24:36] CL: theres the gong by the door
[21:24:41] CL: or one of those vases
[21:24:49] CL: but thatll send shrapnel everywhere
[21:24:58] IA: Do you have anything large that will not shatter or bend?
[21:25:06] CL: uhhhhh
[21:25:24] CL: theres that stone statue over there
[21:25:29] CL: its pretty sturdy
[21:25:52] IA: Is it bolted into the ground or anything?
[21:26:03] CL: no
[21:26:14] IA: OK. That should be simple enough.
[21:26:15] CL: i dont think so
[21:27:22] CL: ia
[21:27:25] CL: are you there
[21:27:27] IA: Yes.
[21:27:30] IA: Sorry.
[21:27:36] CL: no problem
[21:27:38] IA: The statue is not moving.
[21:27:48] CL: do you know why
[21:27:53] IA: I think I might be doing something wrong.
[21:28:05] CL: oh
[21:28:07] CL: well
[21:28:09] IA: I still have not actually figured out the UI.
[21:28:53] CL: uh
[21:28:56] IA: There seem to be enemies comming.
[21:29:03] CL: wait what
[21:29:10] CL: oh my fuck
[21:29:12] IA: You should get out your glaive.
[21:29:14] CL: what are those
[21:29:17] CL: they look slimy
[21:29:27] -- candidLiar [CL] equips her glaive --
[21:29:40] IA: The UI identifies them as "Imps"
[21:29:50] CL: well
[21:29:55] IA: It also say "Prototype undefined"
[21:29:58] CL: theyre not that hard to kill
[21:30:19] IA: They are probably the basic enemy.
[21:30:38] CL: what are the weird gusher things
[21:30:58] IA: They are called "Grist"
[21:31:05] CL: hm
[21:31:07] CL: okay
[21:31:19] IA: They seem to be a type of currency or something.
[21:31:40] CL: any luck with the statue
[21:31:47] IA: Not yet.
[21:32:06] IA: I think there might be some different command for moving things.
[21:32:22] IA: Just keep fighting and picking up grist.
[21:32:23] CL: there are a lot of those imps coming
[21:32:35] CL: uhhhhh
[21:32:37] CL: amit
[21:32:46] CL: do you see the giant imp thing outside
[21:33:32] IA: I am going to deploy the "Pre-punched Card". I will go check what the program has to say about them.
[21:33:41] CL: okay
[21:33:53] CL: i feel like we should really get the lid off that thing
[21:33:56] CL: wait
[21:34:04] CL: look on the ceiling
[21:34:15] CL: the light fixture is right over it
[21:34:42] IA: I will try that.
[21:34:54] CL: you can just break the chain and wire
[21:35:09] IA: I cannot actually see it...so you will have to tell me where it is.
[21:35:18] CL: wait
[21:35:22] CL: i can cut it
[21:35:37] CL: but itll leave me without a glaive
[21:35:40] CL: so cover me
[21:35:57] -- candidLiar [CL] throws her glaive and barely cuts the chain --
[21:36:01] CL: there
[21:36:10] IA: OK. Covering.
[21:36:15] CL: its hanging by the wire
[21:36:24] CL: let me switch to backup
[21:36:31] -- infinityAlternator [IA] builds a wall in front of the door. --
[21:36:38] -- candidLiar [CL] throws pins into the eyes of the nearby imps --
[21:36:52] CL: holy fuck
[21:36:55] CL: the wire snapped
[21:37:19] CL: theres lightbulb glass everywhere
[21:37:23] CL: i did not think of that
[21:37:37] CL: i seem to have a few new scratches
[21:37:39] CL: but im okay
[21:37:50] IA: Did it open?
[21:37:54] CL: yeah
[21:38:01] CL: what is the weird pink glowy thing
[21:38:26] IA: It is labeled "Kernelsprite"...so that is probably what it is.
[21:38:33] CL: okay then
[21:40:04] CL: whats that timer thing
[21:40:19] CL: it says 15 something now
[21:40:24] CL: but it started at 17:26
[21:40:44] IA: I am not sure about that timer...but it is time to prototype something. I will look into it.
[21:41:24] CL: uhhh
[21:41:27] IA: Do you have anything suitable?
[21:41:41] CL: um
[21:41:44] CL: i have a snake
[21:42:03] IA: Try it.
[21:42:07] CL: okay
[21:42:11] CL: i need to go get her
[21:42:14] CL: wheres my sis
[21:42:36] CL: ia
[21:42:43] CL: were running out of time
[21:42:45] IA: She is trapped in a small room. I have written a short explanation into my wall.
[21:42:57] IA: It should prevent the imps from getting to here.
[21:42:58] CL: she must be pissed
[21:43:04] IA: *the wall.
[21:43:11] IA: and yes. She is.
[21:43:20] CL: okay
[21:43:26] CL: give me a sec
[21:43:59] CL: got her
[21:44:09] -- candidLiar [CL] chucks the snake into the kernel --
[21:44:21] IA: Perfect!
[21:44:42] IA: Now there is one last thing to do.
[21:44:53] CL: what do i do
[21:45:17] IA: Do you see the small captchalogue card on the Totem Lathe?
[21:45:22] CL: yeah
[21:45:29] CL: wait
[21:45:35] IA: Put it in the slot.
[21:45:44] CL: theres some pink stuff in the cruxtruder
[21:45:52] CL: anyways
[21:45:58] CL: the cards in the slot
[21:45:59] CL: 7 minutes
[21:46:08] IA: Try spinning the wheel on the Cruxtruder.
[21:46:18] CL: Okay
[21:46:25] IA: Also try pressing buttons randomly.
[21:46:34] IA: That has never failed me in the past.
[21:46:37] CL: I captchaloged a "cruxite dowel"
[21:46:52] IA: What shape is it?
[21:47:02] CL: its a cylinder
[21:47:10] IA: I see.
[21:47:23] IA: Try pressing the buttons on the totem lathe.
[21:47:50] IA: Hopefully one of them will give us an idea of what to do with the dowel.
[21:47:56] -- candidLiar [CL] inserts the dowel and mashes buttons --
[21:47:58] CL: uh
[21:48:04] CL: its sguiggly
[21:48:18] IA: I guess that is success?
[21:48:30] CL: okay
[21:48:34] IA: It is hard to tell.
[21:48:35] CL: i captchalogged it
[21:48:50] CL: 4 minutes
[21:48:57] IA: OK.
[21:49:09] CL: it looks like it would fit on the last thing
[21:49:23] IA: Put it there and start button mashing again.
[21:49:35] -- candidLiar [CL] does what IA says --
[21:49:38] IA: That should be it.
[21:49:39] CL: uh
[21:49:47] CL: this is a little creepy
[21:49:50] CL: its a person
[21:49:56] CL: on the gallows
[21:50:03] IA: Uh...
[21:50:08] IA: Hang them?
[21:50:13] IA: I think?
[21:50:20] CL: they are hung
[21:50:29] CL: should i cut them down
[21:50:41] CL: fuck imps
[21:50:45] CL: im gonna go for it
[21:50:56] IA: It is worth a try.

[21:53:14] CL: fuck imps
[21:53:19] IA: I guess we have to get to the gate.
[21:53:22] -- candidLiar [CL] dispatches the enemies --
[21:54:04] CL: do you have enough stuff to build up there
[21:54:09] -- infinityAlternator [IA] finally gets a chance to look at the enemies outside. --
[21:54:25] IA: I think I have enough to do something.
[21:54:32] CL: okay
[21:54:46] CL: ive got these guys for the next few minutes
[21:55:13] IA: The large enemies from before are called "Ogres". They seem to be about as stupid as the imps...but much stronger.
[21:55:14] CL: uh
[21:55:19] CL: nevermind
[21:55:32] CL: there are 5 ogres climbing onto the spire

[21:56:59] CL: um

[21:57:37] -- candidLiar [CL] takes out a voodoo doll and covers it in slime from an ogre she killed --

Your connection suddenly cuts out as CL does some kind of voodoo magic. You hypothesize that the internet drop is a result of the voodoo, which would mean that you can reconnect now. You do that.

[22:05:53] CL: it was the only efficient way to do that
[22:05:56] IA: Do not worry about it.
[22:06:17] IA: Magic has been a part of my life for far too long for that to freak me out.
[22:06:32] CL: then where did you go
[22:07:02] IA: Not sure. My connection just died suddenly. I assumed it was a consequence of your voodoo magic.
[22:07:20] CL: it might have been
[22:07:29] CL: ive never tried something that big before
[22:07:43] CL: can you build me more ladder
[22:07:50] CL: or at least a platform to sit on
[22:08:00] CL: because I'm really high up
[22:08:02] IA: Yeah I will start adding platforms.
[22:08:15] CL: and a couple imps are following me
[22:08:18] -- infinityAlternator [IA] draws a moderately sized platform. --
[22:08:33] -- candidLiar [CL] collapses on said platform --
[22:08:48] CL: you were right
[22:08:52] CL: i should have slept
[22:09:03] CL: my energy drink wore off
[22:09:14] -- infinityAlternator [IA] places railings around the platform. --
[22:09:21] IA: I will try to block the imps.
[22:09:33] CL: thanks
[22:09:45] CL: we're just over halfway to the gate
[22:10:05] CL: is my sis okay
[22:10:18] IA: Looks like it.
[22:10:23] CL: good
[22:10:30] IA: We are running out of grist though.
[22:10:41] CL: let some imps up here
[22:10:44] CL: i can take them
[22:11:19] IA: Are you sure?
[22:11:26] -- candidLiar [CL] stands up and picks up her glaive --
[22:11:28] CL: oh im sure
[22:11:33] IA: OK.
[22:11:50] -- infinityAlternator [IA] opens up a hole in the barrier of railings. --
[22:12:26] -- candidLiar [CL] slaughters any imps that dare come near her --

[22:12:33] CL: a use for my skills
[22:13:13] CL: did that get you enough grist
[22:13:26] IA: I think so.
[22:13:32] CL: okay
[22:13:44] IA: Maybe you should not go through it right away though.
[22:13:55] CL: well
[22:13:59] CL: what else can i do
[22:14:26] IA: It would be better for everything to be relatively synced.
[22:14:41] CL: then what should i do
[22:14:57] CL: chill out on my little island and fend off impy assholes
[22:15:36] IA: I think you should try to get PS into the game and keep the imps out of your new temporary room.
[22:15:48] CL: okay
[22:15:55] CL: im about to fall over
[22:15:57] IA: I will place a bed and some other stuff in it.
[22:16:04] CL: thanks
[22:16:08] -- infinityAlternator [IA] places a bed in the room. --
[22:16:21] CL: well

[22:16:59] CL: can you move my minifridge up here
[22:17:13] CL: and the box that was under my bed
[22:17:21] IA: Take some time to rest. I will move the minifridge and your box.
[22:17:29] CL: i dont want any imps getting to it

[22:18:46] CL: ill talk to her before i nap
[22:18:51] CL: bye

[22:19:17] -- candidLiar [CL] ceased pestering infinityAlternator [IA] at 22:19 --
After that fun adventure, you feel quite prepared to take on this game as a client.

Be CT
It has been a long day, and yet you feel as though there is still so much time left. After all, what is the night for, other than walking the city streets and getting into trouble. Unfortunately, that isn't an option right now. After a series of unfortunate events, you are under a form of self imposed "house arrest", if you will, due to your fragile standing among the street rats you normally run with. This means you are currently involved with your computer, watching your online "friends", whom you have been careful to keep separate from your street "friends" for just this reason. You recently noticed some intriguing activity on a certain friends accounts, involving the acquisition four betas to the same game. As you currently don't have anything to do, other than watch people, which is boring (it's much more fun to make them do or thing what you want), you start to think of a way to get CL to include you in her plans, whatever they may be. No sooner have you decided this than you are invited to a memo on PesterChum by CL, along with two other people.
Open pesterChum
It seems as though you will no longer have a need to work yourself into CL's plans. You are a bit disappointed that you got in so easily, but you suppose it should have been expected, considering CL considers you to be a close friend most of the time. You weren't lying when you said it was getting kinda late, but you have no intention of going to sleep, however you do take a quick shower. When you get back to your computer, you draw up CL's logs. As you expected, she has been talking more with IA. Since this is to be your only engagement for the next few weeks, you decide to invest as much attention as possible in it, and begin going over what they have discussed. No use in them making plans without you knowing. After all, this is just a game. Why not work it in your favor?

Eiko: Enter the game
After having stayed up through the night and the morning testing various potions and recording your research, you log onto pesterchum and download Sburb. You begin messaging IA as soon as the installation finishes and enter the game.
After you close out of pesterchum, you collapse on the bed IA placed in your temporary “room,” especially exhausted due to your desperate use of voodoo. Kalasprite floats over to the bed and lays a blanket over you, and you feel your eyes getting heavy. As you fall asleep, you find yourself surrounded by shadows of purple, hearing nothing but faint whispers in the distance." />

Re: Pre-entry Activities
==> Be PS
It’s already pretty late when Eiko invites you to a memo, but you’re still wide awake, thinking. Your neighbors often leave their dog outdoors chained to their house because they work all day and don’t want to leave him alone indoors, but this often invites kids to rile him up, and sometimes adults on their way home from work. Today, you saw a group of high school students, probably seniors, sneak through the back alleyway behind the house, acting obviously suspicious. You were quick to recognize what they were holding paintball guns, whose ammunition can be poisonous to dogs. You feared for the dog’s life, and shot at their feet with your own pellet gun, dicking behind the windowsill and muttering swear words at yourself when you actually grazed a hit on one of their legs. You immediately felt terrible for it, but were glad that it made them leave. It was honestly quite lucky that you were looking out the window right at that time, but you wonder what you'd do if they came back. You've been thinking about that for a while now.
Opening the memo, Eiko tells you and two others you don't really know well about a game. The tutorial she shows you sounds a bit worrisome, but the others seem to brush it off quickly enough, so you think it should be fine. As long as you can have fun with them, it doesn't sound like a bad idea. Before you know it it's already 4am, way too late, and you quickly hurry on off to bed. You probably won't remember much of the game on awakening.

IA: Get ready for bed
You look at your pile of cylinders, returning a small cylindrical pen to the pile. From steel and copper piping and wooden dowel rods to aluminum throwing disks and inflatable rafts, you have collected cylinders of varied dimensions in an attempt to convert your childhood choice of staffkind to a more flexible cylinderkind. It hasn’t worked... yet. It’s time to pick up your staffs and get back to coding. Unfortunately, your rudely interrupted by 10:00. As much as you’d like to spend the night coding and be ready to send the proof as soon as possible... you really need your sleep, especially with Eiko already in the game. You turn on your Augmented Reality modus to alert you if any of the other players need to contact you. Until then, you rest.

IA: Return to the land of the awoken
After a nearly perfect night of dream-filled sleep, you wake up, only minutes before you had planned to. Eiko has awoken and wants to talk to you.
After such a successful conversation, you decide to finish your coding project. It’s a fairly simple piece of code that lets you watch Earth time while on Prospit and watch Prospit time while on Earth. It should also work for everyone’s lands, but you haven’t gotten the chance to try that yet. As you type away, you keep an eye on Pesterchum, waiting for CL’s friend to come online. After a half an hour, you finally finish the “Sburb world clock”. As you prepare to go to sleep, you see twineCucurbita come online.

[04:57:58] CL: hey
[04:58:07] CL: i just had the strangest dream
[04:58:08] IA: Hello
[04:58:19] IA: Was it...
[04:58:25] IA: Purple?
[04:58:35] CL: no
[04:58:37] CL: wy=hy
[04:58:39] CL: *ahy
[04:58:42] CL: **why
[05:00:09] IA: Nevermind. I'm still working on the proof. Give it a day or two longer.
[05:00:20] CL: ok
[05:00:30] CL: i mean theres totally proof that this game is real
[05:00:34] CL: unless im crazy
[05:00:39] CL: anyways
[05:00:44] CL: my dream was about ct
[05:00:57] CL: she kinda killed everyone
[05:01:03] IA: Uh...
[05:01:16] CL: and she wasnt acting any different than normal
[05:01:20] CL: so i was thinking
[05:01:34] CL: maybe it wouldnt be the best idea to have her play
[05:01:47] IA: Is it reasonable to base that off of a dream?
[05:01:52] IA: I mean...
[05:01:58] CL: lets be honest though
[05:02:16] CL: shes not really a safe person to trust with your life
[05:02:23] CL: and thats what this game requires
[05:02:44] CL: and that dream felt so real
[05:03:00] CL: it was barely a dream
[05:03:05] IA: True...but you have to remember that people who get left out will die is a meteor apocolypse.
[05:03:22] CL: yeah
[05:03:43] IA: Also...CT would probably find a way to get in anyways. And then she would have a real reason to kill us.
[05:03:44] CL: but the point of this game seems to be to try and get some humans to survive
[05:04:18] CL: but at least we would have a better chance of saving ourselves if we didn't have to trust her to help us out
[05:04:47] CL: maybe tc would be a better choice
[05:04:51] CL: have you ever met her
[05:05:22] IA: I have not. We need someone to fill in the 4th slot...so that would be good.
[05:05:55] CL: shes not exactly an ideal strategist
[05:06:07] CL: but i think she can be trusted to not stab us in the backs
[05:06:21] IA: What's she like?
[05:08:11] CL: shes pretty logical
[05:08:23] CL: but she seems to think in terms of herself more than others
[05:08:56] CL: her goals dont really seem dangerous though
[05:09:04] CL: or like they could be
[05:09:08] CL: unlike ct
[05:10:02] IA: Do you have a physical description of her (or PS)? I'm trying to match things to my notes. I have physical descriptions of the four players.
[05:10:49] CL: im pretty sure ps is tall
[05:11:14] CL: but i dont know what tc looks like
[05:11:31] CL: i know what ct looks like
[05:12:19] IA: What does she look like?
[05:12:56] CL: shes pretty tall for a girl
[05:12:57] CL: korean
[05:13:00] CL: black hair
[05:13:07] CL: half of her head is shaved i think
[05:14:07] IA: I do not think there are any players like that. At least...my notes do not include any such players.
[05:14:23] IA: So... I guess she does not play?
[05:14:47] CL: well i guess that settles it
[05:14:50] CL: tc it is
[05:14:57] IA: OK.
[05:16:11] IA: Before we end this...could you tell me a bit more about yourself and your friends? I would like to have some ideas of who I am going to have to interact with.
[05:16:47] CL: what about me
[05:16:59] CL: like what i look like
[05:17:53] IA: That...more about what you do...info on your guardians. I have a lot of stuff in my notes that I would like to connect to real people.
[05:18:10] CL: wait
[05:18:17] CL: dont you know what i look like
[05:18:26] CL: i entered the game thanks to you
[05:18:35] CL: oops
[05:18:35] CL: duh
[05:18:51] CL: uhhh
[05:19:36] CL: my sis owns that dojo you saw and teaches there
[05:19:46] IA: Well...yes...I know that.
[05:19:55] CL: she goes all over the world for conventions to give demonstrations and stuff
[05:20:13] CL: so im home alone a lot
[05:20:53] CL: i dont really know much else to say about me
[05:21:03] IA: Do you know if PS's and TC's guardians also travel a lot?
[05:21:12] CL: i dont think they do
[05:21:39] IA: OK
[05:21:51] CL: i know that aven doesnt go isnt very social
[05:21:58] CL: like he doesnt get out much
[05:22:32] CL: he likes to go for hikes though
[05:22:49] CL: and he gets upset whenever he finds a dead animal
[05:23:29] IA: OK
[05:23:30] CL: and tc likes to read and stuff
[05:23:34] CL: i dont know much about her
[05:23:52] CL: were honestly not close friends
[05:24:54] IA: OK. I will try to talk to her next.
[05:25:07] CL: ok
[05:25:17] CL: she hasnt messaged me in a bit
[05:25:43] IA: What is her full chumhandle?
[05:25:44] CL: so she probably will sometime soon
[05:25:58] CL: twineCucurbita
[05:26:22] IA: OK.
[05:26:47] IA: Is there anything else you want to know about this game? You have been in it for a day and a night now.
[05:32:02] CL: whats the point other than escaping doom
[05:32:09] CL: why do we have to be in this hellhole
[05:33:55] IA: Well...I like the lands. They look like they will be great adventures. Did you not play games like this for fun?
[05:34:16] CL: i mean dont get me wrong
[05:34:20] CL: its pretty cool
[05:34:39] CL: but im surrounded by imps and ogres
[05:35:08] CL: and im trying to get to a portal and i dont even know where it goes
[05:35:26] IA: If I understand it correctly...this is a temporary situation. The combat should be a lot less after you get to the portal.
[05:36:18] CL: cool
[05:36:20] CL: also
[05:36:20] CL: lands
[05:36:24] CL: what are those
[05:36:33] CL: im on a cliff in a void of blackness
[05:36:42] IA: I do not know where in your land the portal goes...but I do know that after you go through it there are a lot fewer imps and ogres near your house.
[05:37:26] IA: Essentially...the lands are built around a quest. Each person has a quest and a land.
[05:37:54] IA: Finishing the quest is important...but I cannot figure out how they impact the game's end.
[05:38:12] CL: huh
[05:39:23] IA: The lands and quests are built based on some personality traits or...at least...the code references hidden parameters attached to the player's mind.
[05:40:12] CL: thats pretty cool
[05:40:18] CL: i wonder what my quest is
[05:41:14] IA: There are multiple bodies for each player...so it is easy to tell what is connected to people's minds. Unfortunately...I cannot look at the minds or quests themselves.
[05:42:06] IA: I know what the four lands are from my notes.
[05:42:37] CL: cool
[05:43:22] CL: what happens if one of your bodies dies
[05:45:04] IA: You can be revived using...uh...methods. You will come back to life as the body on the dream planet after the...uh...ritual. You will be considerably weakened for a time.
[05:45:51] IA: The ritual must be completed rather quickly. Wounds transfer from one body to another. There is some lag...but it is only a few minutes at most.
[05:46:10] CL: okay
[05:46:14] CL: thats pretty cool
[05:46:18] CL: what kind of ritual
[05:47:07] IA: Well...
[05:47:11] IA: uh...
[05:48:00] IA: It is...
[05:48:10] IA: uh...
[05:48:12] CL: you ok
[05:48:35] IA: Yeah. I am trying to find the word in my notes.
[05:49:02] IA: There are a lot of words I do not use often.
[05:49:08] IA: This is one of them.
[05:50:09] IA: I will send you some scans from the Prospit library along with the proof.
[05:50:26] IA: Unless you want me to try to describe it?
[05:50:35] CL: nah
[05:50:38] CL: its okay
[05:51:58] IA: OK. I should probably get back to working on my proof and talk to TC. Is it OK if we pause here for a few hours?
[05:52:10] CL: sure
[05:52:23] CL: ill just collect some grist and stuff
[05:52:34] IA: I will try to wake up again before you go to sleep and tell you what I found.
[05:52:45] CL: ok
[05:52:48] CL: bye then
[05:52:59] IA: See you later.

[16:38:41] IA: Hello.
[16:39:14] TC: Hello. Do you need something.
[16:39:42] IA: Sort of.
[16:39:55] IA: Have you talked to CL recently?
[16:43:36] TC: No i have not. How come.
[16:45:10] IA: I just finished talking to her. I'm trying to match you to a set of notes which would give me a substantial advantage in an upcoming game.
[16:45:25] IA: I would like some information about you.
[16:45:41] IA: For example: How old are you?
[16:45:48] IA: What do you look like?
[16:46:05] IA: What are your interests?
[16:46:08] IA: Things like that.
[16:46:43] IA: Also...what kind of weapon do you use. That one is very important.
[16:51:07] TC: If it's that much of a concern, i like to read. That's about all i'll share right now. And, so sue me, i use a pistol at sixteen. Short hair like my guardian, undislosed height. This is some game.
[16:52:26] IA: Reading...pistolkind...short hair...
[16:52:47] IA: Could you give me skin tone or hair color?
[16:53:00] IA: I would like to make sure you are the right person.
[16:55:13] TC: Dark brown skin and black hair. I hope those match your alleged notes.
[16:56:15] IA: OK. That sounds about right. Do you like ladybugs?
[16:57:03] IA: Or maybe... Do you wear a ladybug? That does nto make much sense...but the notes say that you do...
[16:57:09] IA: *not
[17:00:03] TC: Yes, i have a ladybug on my shirt, which makes perfect sense. And i like bugs. More people should.
[17:00:39] IA: I have never seen one before.
[17:01:02] TC: Then i almost feel bad for you. Poor soul.
[17:02:39] IA: It is quite alright. Anyways...I can drop the book character keeping secrets act now...so I am going to explain this game to you.
[17:02:52] IA: This would be such a bad book.
[17:02:59] IA: OK.
[17:03:07] IA: The game is called Sburb
[17:03:30] IA: Playing it can lead to death. The game alters reality...so you are
[17:03:39] IA: "actually" playing the game.
[17:03:57] IA: It is very difficult...especially at the beginning.
[17:04:09] IA: However...
[17:04:19] IA: Not playing leads to certain death.
[17:04:27] IA: So...
[17:04:35] IA: Do you want to play?
[17:07:22] -- twineCucurbita [TC] changed their mood to OFFLINE --

[17:08:02] -- twineCucurbita [TC] changed their mood to CHUMMY --
[17:08:14] IA: Oh. Good.
[17:08:47] IA: I would like to note that you are one of the four players in the future...so I know that you will play eventually.
[17:11:59] TC: As long as i won't be facing certain death, i don't particularly care how far in the future that is. Sounds fun. Nice to know i won't be alone in living.
[17:12:55] IA: That is good. I have some time to talk. What would you like to know about Sburb?
[17:15:30] TC: Hmm... What will i have to do when my time comes to play this game.
[17:16:41] IA: There are some basic things: Do not die; do not allow other players to die; follow instructions from CL or myself; etc.
[17:17:10] IA: The game requires the players to go through a set of gates.
[17:17:34] IA: I do not know what each gate does or where it goes.
[17:18:34] IA: You have a place called your land. Your house will be transported there as soon as you enter the game (I will explain that next). The first portal goes from above your house to some place in your land.
[17:19:09] IA: After going through the gate...your goal is to find the next gate and use it to return to your house.
[17:20:37] IA: Until you enter the first gate there will be a lot of enemies.
[17:21:36] IA: After each gate...the number of enemies will decrease.
[17:23:00] IA: Does that make sense?
[17:25:58] TC: Perfect sense. Thanks. I'll see about keeping everyone else alive.
[17:26:36] IA: OK. I am not doing the organizing (that is CL's job) so I do not keep track of server and client players.
[17:26:45] IA: You will have to talk to her about that.
[17:27:09] IA: Butm I should explain how you enter the game before you go.
[17:27:14] IA: *But...
[17:27:31] IA: So...I am going to do that.
[17:27:54] TC: I'll be sure to do that soon. And yes, i was hoping for that in the first place.
[17:28:09] IA: The game Sburb contains two programs.
[17:28:28] IA: The first program is called the server program.
[17:29:12] IA: The server player runs that program first.
[17:29:52] IA: Then...the client player then runs the client program.
[17:30:28] IA: Running the client connects to the server player.
[17:30:52] IA: The server player is given a viewport to the client's current location.
[17:31:51] IA: He/she begins deploying crafting-related machines: the Cruxtruder...Alchemiter...and Totem Lathe.
[17:32:18] IA: The client fights enemies that begin to spawn.
[17:32:37] IA: The server deploys the "Pre-punched card"
[17:32:53] IA: The client opens the cruxtruder (this is difficult).

[17:34:31] IA: The client activates the totem lathe.
[17:34:54] IA: The client leave to find something for the kernalsprite.
[17:35:45] IA: Putting something in the kernalsprite changes its characteristics. The kernalsprite is your guide during your journey...so a powerful sprite is often useful.
[17:36:07] IA: However...the qualities of the kernalsprite are also transfered to the enemies.
[17:36:25] IA: The sprite can be prototyped up to 2 times.
[17:36:43] IA: You must prototype it once before entering the game.
[17:38:12] IA: After prototyping something...the client takes the totem (made of the cruxite dowel in the totem lathe) and puts in on the alchemiter.
[17:40:18] IA: Using the alchemiter and some grist (which is dropped by enemies)...the client creates the item on the pre-punched card.
[17:41:16] IA: Breaking or destroying the resulting item will cause the client to enter the game.
[17:41:30] IA: Do not destroy the item until you are sure you want to enter the game.
[17:41:46] IA: That is basically it.
[17:43:00] IA: I do not know if I will be the your client player or if CL will be your server (one of those will be true) but...either way...you can ask me for help anytime. I have a way of being awake whenever anyone needs to talk.
[17:43:20] IA: One last question:
[17:44:54] IA: Can you send me your location or a nearby location where I could send something to you?
[17:45:04] IA: I would need GPS coordinates.
[17:46:01] TC: Useful information. Do you think i would know my gps coordinates?
[17:47:42] IA: Just type "/me sends his coordinates to IA". Pesterchum has an integrated system or something.
[17:50:31] TC: Right, of course. Excuse my naivety.

Well, you deem that conversation stupid but not a complete waste of time. At least now you know of this game that's going on.

[17:07:22] -- twineCucurbita [TC] changed their mood to OFFLINE --
[17:07:44] IA: Well...
[17:07:49] IA: Uh...

==> Be Eiko
Eiko: Get up
You wake up to a not so little Kalasprite. In fact, Kalasprite is now a woman with a serpent tail, and you nearly jump out of your bed when you see her.
You stare after Kalasprite as she floats away, following her snake tail – sprite tail? – which swishes from side to side as she retreats to the other side of your “room.” You find her tail fascinating, and you can’t say that she isn’t unpleasant to look at, but the snake eyes and tail do make her seem a bit creepy.
After you finally manage to tear your eyes away from her, you pull out your tablet and open pesterchum, where you proceed to open a chatlog with Amit.
You put your tablet in your sylladex and quickly slide down the ladder, knocking off quite a few imps. They seem very unhappy before hitting the ground and exploding into piles of grist everywhere. You let out a small laugh as one of them tries to cling onto the ladder comically before falling, snake tail thrashing in distress.

[05:00:30] CL: i mean theres totally proof that this game is real
[05:00:34] CL: unless im crazy
[05:00:39] CL: anyways
[05:00:44] CL: my dream was about ct
[05:00:57] CL: she kinda killed everyone
[05:01:03] IA: Uh...
[05:01:16] CL: and she wasnt acting any different than normal
[05:01:20] CL: so i was thinking

[05:50:38] CL: its okay
[05:51:58] IA: OK. I should probably get back to working on my proof and talk to TC. Is it OK if we pause here for a few hours?

[05:52:23] CL: ill just collect some grist and stuff

Re: Pre-entry Activities
IA: Respond to memo
After a morning of continuing to set up defenses around Eiko’s house and an afternoon of continuing your preparations for your own entry, it is finally time for a strategy session. You wait for Eiko to start the memo.
Your pesterchum client suddenly dies. This happens fairly often, but it is even more annoying now. At this point, you just reopen the program and continue.
That went pretty well. You worry that you sounded a bit too leader-like. If there is anything your stories have taught you, it is that leadership is hard and should be avoided unless absolutely necessary.
Either way, you have a game to begin.
IA: Begin the games
You open a chat with primordialSasquatch. Luckily, your entry has been well planned. With the pre-drawn guidelines and clear labels, PS should have no problem getting you ready. It is a bit unfortunate that you spent so many days with only Eiko in the game, but you are going to make the best of the situation. If you can get everyone ready to enter the moment you do, you might be able to win.

After a morning of continuing to set up defenses around Eiko’s house and an afternoon of continuing your preparations for your own entry, it is finally time for a strategy session. You wait for Eiko to start the memo.

What memo? Oh yes, the one flashing on your Pesterchum screen. You've been biding your time in hopes of getting involved in the session soon enough. It's probably more useless information that can be passed over, but you check it out for yourself.
That was... mildly less boring than you thought it would be. At least they seem to be getting down to business. It's about time. Not even a few minutes later, IA starts something with you. What does he want?
Informative and worth your time. Just the way you like it. Now to see to PS like you said you had been doing all along.
Now that. That was surprising. It was entirely different seeing it with your own eyes. But now you know how this entering process works, so something good came of it. After a moment, you grow bored watching PS gallivanting around on his planet and turn to the most important matter at hand: your own success.
A soft sigh escapes your lips, one of the few sounds in the otherwise quiet, cluttered place you call home. Socrates flaps around like a doofus, obviously trying to overcome his broken wing. You don't have the heart to stop him.
Instead, you begin to devise a plan: where your server player should place the machines, what should be cleared away, and what you will do with the glowing ball once it is freed. You have a feeling this game has something to do with the frog-headed temple in the middle of your lake, but you can't be certain. After all, some information is better left to remain voided.

==> Ella: Remain patient.
How can you do that? You've received no information for at least an hour, but the meteors are picking up into more of a constant drizzle now. There's little time left to waste. Where's your knight in shining armor now? Psh. Only now do you get pestered. What does this guy want.
That wasn't so bad, you guess. Now you know what that one is up to, at least. But having to wait to enter the Medium will be difficult. You don't like waiting for what you want. That's how you kept faith in your Ant until all hope was abandoned, distrust in its place. You're glad she's gone. The meteors can have at that good-for-nothing excuse of a guardian. Speaking of, you need to get to work cleaning up the mess around the house. Who knows? Some of it may be useful.
==> Ella: Reduce time spent to a montage.
Too late. You're already done with the piles you deemed important in entering the Medium, though there's still much that can be done. What you chose to keep has been moved to your sylladex, outfitted with the practical Deque Modus. You found: (1) MAGIC CUE BALL, (1) WORN CLOAK, and some other junk not worth mentioning. What you already have includes: (1) BALL OF TWINE, (1) STACK OF BOOKS, (1) MYSTERIOUS GOURD, and (2) EXTRA PISTOLS, just in case.
Oh look, you were so busy taking inventory you didn't notice your chum messaging you. Let's see here...
That was useless. You'll just check your computer more often. Maybe turn up the notification volume. But other than that, just wait. You'll have to hold off on exploring the temple or anything else vaguely interesting until you have fewer distractions. Time to get some lunch, for you and Socrates.
How can you do that? You've received no information for at least an hour, but the meteors are picking up into more of a constant drizzle now. There's little time left to waste. Where's your knight in shining armor now? Psh. Only now do you get pestered. What does this guy want.

[04:27] IA: Hello!
[04:27] TC: Hello again.
[04:28] IA: Hi! I just wanted to discuss some plans with you for this game. I'm trying something a little risky... so I though I should tell you before I do.
[04:28] TC: Oh. And what might those plans be.
[04:30] IA: Well... you see... I had this idea for prototyping myself into my kernelsprite. If I do that... I may be able to gain the sprite's powers and knowledge.
[04:31] IA: Unfortunately... that does not seem to be something the game allows.
[04:32] IA: So I am trying to prototype my dreamself.
[04:33] TC: Are you sure we can even get in contact with our dreamselves. I mean, they are on another planet altogether.
[04:36] IA: Well...I am making the plan now that I will go to sleep and fly my dreamself through the portal that my meteor is go though during the Reckoning. When the meteor shows up here... I should be able to prototype my dreamself right before entering The Medium.
[04:37] IA: I do not know if it will work... but I want to try.
[04:39] TC: So the meteors come from the same realm as our dreamselves. Interesting. Sounds like a good idea.
[04:40] TC: I'll choose not to ask questions in order to speed along this process.
[04:40] IA: Something like that. They are part of the endgame and they are also here. I assume that they come through portals.
[04:40] IA: Anyways... the point is that this means that I am going to have to wait as long as possible before entering.
[04:41] IA: That means you probably will too.
[04:44] IA: Since we are the last two.
[04:44] TC: Of course. I doubt my server player will be competent enough to get me into the medium for a while. But how long can we wait.
[04:45] TC: Meteors haven't hit my house yet.
[04:45] TC: Though it's only a matter of time.
[04:45] IA: Right up until the meteor hits you... you can wait as long as you want.
[04:46] TC: If i have to wait longer than that, i may have to retreat to the ominous temple near my house.
[04:52] IA: I think you should be fine. If we can make this work... it should make the game much easier.
[04:53] TC: Fair point. I'll side with the plan, though. What i prototype is a mystery.
[04:54] TC: And you'll have plenty of information to use for our benefit.
[04:56] IA: OK. Sounds good. I'm going to go now... but I hope we can talk more later.

Re: Pre-entry Activities
IA: Inform the others of your new plan
You wake up in your room again. You need to let everyone know about the most recent versions of you plans for this game, especially the part about your dreamself-prototyping. TC is the first to come online.
You wait a while longer, working on some more designs for staffs. It’s mostly just fiddling with previous ones, but you manage to create one that changes from a not a cylinder to a cylinder. Maybe that will let you change your specibus? After nearly 3 hours, Eiko comes online. Before you even notice, she messages you.

[19:37:35] IA: Do you see the blue totem on the alchemiter?
[19:37:41] CL: yeah
[19:38:20] IA: I made that using the machines I deployed.
[19:38:32] CL: ok

[19:39:51] IA: Right. You already did the end part of the crafting in the tutorial. At the same time...you have not done the begining half.
[19:40:03] IA: I was going to show you that now.
[19:40:08] CL: i saw the card
[19:40:13] CL: i just dont know how to punch it
[19:40:23] CL: because none of mine are like that
[19:40:42] IA: Right. First thing you will need is additional cards.
[19:40:53] CL: wait
[19:41:01] IA: This should help you with item storage too.
[19:41:04] CL: do i have to get a totem for each new thing
[19:41:16] CL: because that is extremely inefficient
[19:41:19] IA: Yeah. Different totem each time.
[19:41:25] CL: is there any sort of shortcut
[19:41:40] IA: There are some efficiency boosters in the late game...but not for now.
[19:41:54] CL: urg
[19:41:56] IA: Do you have a blank card?
[19:42:01] CL: yeah
[19:42:22] CL: ive got about 6
[19:42:31] CL: i dont have much in my sylladex
[19:42:32] CL: i try not to
[19:42:54] IA: OK. Put one of them in the lathe.
[19:43:04] CL: gotcha
[19:43:35] IA: Put in a new dowel too.
[19:43:48] CL: mhm
[19:44:48] IA: Each card has a six digit hexadecimal code. The cuts indicate the bits that translate to that hexadecimal code.
[19:45:02] CL: ok
[19:45:04] IA: The code for blank card in 000000.
[19:45:18] IA: So a blank card can make a blank card.
[19:45:27] CL: nice
[19:47:19] IA: It is very convenient. Depending on your sylladex you may be able to use filled cards as well.
[19:48:05] CL: cards turn into pins
[19:48:14] CL: which go in the doll
[19:48:40] CL: which goes into me
[19:49:12] CL: so i can probably just use cards
[19:49:24] CL: but honestly id like an easier system than this
[19:49:29] IA: I know. It works better for people with physical cards. I have a hard time even holding a card since mine are just hard drive space.
[19:50:10] CL: yeah that makes sense
[19:50:42] CL: but as long as im not dealing with anything too big it should be fine
[19:50:48] CL: bigger things hurt more
[19:50:59] IA: OK. I will keep that in mind.
[19:51:41] CL: anyways are we up to the gate
[19:52:17] IA: Almost. You could proably make the jump. I am trying to find the device that you use to punch holes in the cards.
[19:52:47] CL: do you know where the gate takes me
[19:53:19] IA: Somewhere on the planet...I am not sure where.
[19:53:27] CL: ok

IA: Play your role

Re: Pre-entry Activities
IA: Attempt the rare and dangerous 2x entry combo
It is about time to enter. Everyone seems to be online, so you want to start getting stuff done right away. You start by pestering PS.
Technically speaking, your entry is perfect. Everyone got what they wanted; everyone remains unharmed; everyone entered successfully. At the same time, you really need to talk to Eiko. You remember letting her know, and you go through the logs to make sure. Still, Eiko is under a lot of stress, so it’s better to just go with it for now. Your really more worried that she’s snapping than anything else.
Suddenly, you realize the problem. Eiko’s dreamself is still out with the horrorterrors. You decide it is time to take drastic action. After all, you are Eiko’s advisor and her friend. You can’t let her keep going the way she is.
You’re glad everyone’s calmed down. Hopefully, Eiko will come to you for help now and TC should be able to fix the horrorterror situation. Your next step should be to wake up PS, but you really want to get started with this game. You grab one of your simpler staffs, a straightforward cylinder with a small disk-shaped weight at each end, and head out.

[17:22:28] TC: Hello. Did you need something.
[17:22:44] IA: I am just letting you know. When you wake up on Derse...please retreive Eiko. She is somewhere in the Furthest Ring. She needs to be put back in her room.
[17:22:49] IA: It is kind of important.
[17:23:10] IA: Thanks.
